About Komatsu H.R.D. Center Philippines

In 1921, Komatsu Ltd. started out as a small, local manufacturer of mining equipment in Komatsu City, Japan. Today, Komatsu is the world's second largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Komatsu products are used in over 100 countries in a wide range of operations from natural resource development to road construction, forestry, agriculture and urban infrastructure projects enjoying very high reputation among customers around the world.

As worldwide demand for construction equipment is projected to continue its expansion especially in emerging markets, Komatsu strives even more to optimize customer satisfaction by developing equipment fit to meet various customer needs, delivering top quality products and offering tailored and reliable product support.

To further strengthen its global support capabilities, Komatsu established in November 2008 the Komatsu Human Resource Development Center (KHRDC) in Metro Manila with the mission to train Service Engineers; the first of its kind in the Philippines by a Construction Equipment Manufacturer. 151 students have been admitted since 2008 and 73 out of 95 trainees are now taking overseas training in 23 countries as of January, 2018 and 56 of them were already full pledged engineers for Komatsu.

The training of excellent Service Engineers for construction and mining equipment requires a comprehensive program which provides actual experience in the field and fosters professional expertise not only in knowledge and skill but also in the mind; such as, high professionalism and business ethics. KHRDC offers a five-year course of quality training programs conducted domestically and abroad. After completing the course, members will be stationed at operations around the world to engage in Komatsu product support business.

The Philippines was selected as the site of Komatsu's first training institute outside Japan on the basis of great success Komatsu's Filipino employees have established over the past 30 years and the credit they have received from customers around the world.

I look forward to receiving applications from many young students who are eager for challenge and opportunities to be a part of Komatsu's Global Teamwork!

"Komatsu HRDC offers astounding opportunities and a great chance to learn how to think outside the box. I have had many opportunities to take hold of my knowledge amidst the fact that I am an electrical engineer, I made it as a strength in working and in getting acquainted with machines. I've always been encouraged to stretch myself, improve and develop my new skills that are outside of my comfort zone."

June Frances Aying
